Just a few meters from the wall dividing El Paso, Texas, and Ciudad Juárez, a “cemetery” of abandoned belongings was found on the Mexican side of the border.

This series is part of What Remains, which traces migration through the objects carried by immigrants, refugees, and asylum seekers to the edge of their journey—before crossing into the United States. These survival items, once held as essential, are forcibly discarded at the border wall, torn from those who carry them.

Scattered across the desert are clothes, shoes, and plush toys—traces of passage marked by separation. For children, these objects often carry the weight of comfort and protection, left behind at a moment of enforced transition.
